USA will give Ukraine 2 boats during the escalation in the Azov sea

To patrol the waters in the sea of Azov, Ukraine has bought from the United States coast guard cutter, Island class, scrapped as part of the Pentagon’s realization of surplus military equipment, a source told CNN the U.S. Department of defense.

The transfer of ships Drummond and Cushin will be held tomorrow, September 27 in Baltimore, with the participation of Vice-Admiral of the coast guard Michael McAllister and the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The Ukrainian leader arrived in new York city since September 18 is the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

Over the past month, tensions between Ukraine and Russia in the Azov sea has increased. And in late August the U.S. State Department accused Moscow of provocations and aggressive actions against the Ukrainian courts in the region.

«In April, Russia detained hundreds of commercial vessels, and in recent weeks have detained at least 16 commercial vessels EN route to the Ukrainian ports», — said the press-Secretary of the Department of state Heather Nauert.

Coast guard cutter, Island class, produced from 1985 to 1992, features a 25-millimetre machine-gun and 4 machine guns 50 caliber. By the way, the boat Drummond was awarded the Honorary diploma of the U.S. Coast guard for the interdiction of entering the country illegal immigrants from Haiti.
