The couple left for dead on the street after they were attacked by a gangarmed with bats, machetes and an axe.

The incident occurred in may this year in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire (United Kingdom), and before the court on October 28, will appear while only one accused.

Teresa McIver and her husband Neil suffered a terrible head injury and broken ribs after a brutal attack. According to them, on the street, they had an argument with a young man who left but returned later with the «help» of 12 people and attacked them when they were walking home from friends.

«It was a massacre. I saw Neal lying on the pavement and not moving. I thought he was dead. Probably, someone of the neighbours called the ambulance, and we were immediately taken to the hospital,» said Theresa McIver.

The woman was diagnosed with broken ribs, a punctured lung and facial injuries. Neal took to put 32 stitches in the head and do plastic surgery on the hand.

The whole family was, they said, devastated after the attack, which occurred six months after the wedding.

«I still have nightmares, I dream, like struggling with them,’ said Teresa. – We sometimes can’t sleep and all the time watching the security cameras on the house. Don’t know how we would have coped if we didn’t have each other. Neil felt so guilty when he said that was supposed to protect me.»

Police arrested three people in connection with the incident.

27-year-old man should stand trial on Monday, October 28. He is the only prisonerwho is in custody, while the rest were released. The police said that the investigation is still ongoing.
