A grieving mother found out after the murder of her ten year old daughter that she is not home, and she was switched at birth.
The schoolgirl Yana Aleksandrova, was allegedly killed 55-year-old brother of her stepfather Oleg Ahtiainen. The older sister, Alina, admitted that their stepfather for several years harassed the two girls.
The girl’s mother was identified by the clothes Yana’s body, which was dumped in a forest in the Leningrad region. But later DNA analysis showed that Ian was not her child.
The police determined that the infant was accidentally replaced by another staff of the hospital in January 2001.
Pravoohraniteli found biological daughter Elena, raised by another family. They also did not know about the exchange.
First, the mother could not accept the fact that Ian is not her blood daughter, and believed that the killer dressed her girls for another child.
«I don’t think that my little girl found dead», — told Elena at the time.
But Yana’s DNA matched the DNA of a family that had a daughter, which, as it turned out, gave birth to Elena.
As a result, the woman is not allowed to see her blood daughter, who is now 18 years old. Elena decided not to go to court to challenge the decision, said her friend.
«She realized what a bother it can cause her baby,» said the friend.

Ahtiainen faces a possible life sentence for the rape and murder of Yana.
His alleged accomplice, was also detained this week, the 35-year-old Boris Bokarev, helped dispose of the body, say police. He will not be charged because of the Statute of limitations of criminal prosecution.
Elena was «shocked and did not know» about sexual abuse by her husband George, who was jailed for 13 years for the attack. He was initially suspected of her murder, but police say their comprehensive investigation found that the perpetrators were Ahtiainen.
