«Crystal,» the boy who broke more than 300 bones, has become an international swimming champion

A young man who has broken over 300 bones, has become an international swimming champion.

DC Gunned (20 years old) was born with a rare disease called osteogenesis imperfecta. Bowl disease called «crystal disease». This is a rare genetic disease characterized by bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures.

But, despite the fact that his bones fragile as glass, a young man from Karnataka, India, has been able to achieve tremendous success in the sport. Des Moines said: «Before I started to swim, life was not so wonderful as it is today. I didn’t have friends, I did nothing at home, just watched TV».

Only when des Moines was born, his mother Koser learned from doctors that her son left to live for 3 days. Now she’s his biggest fan. The woman says, «Since there was my son, I had motivation. So many people were inspired by his tenacity and hard work. I could not be more proud of him more.»

The boy’s mother wanted to send him to a regular school or school for the disabled, but it did not work, and she taught him at home. «Only his coach Umesh took it for a swim without prejudice,» she says.

Umesh says: «I noticed Moines at a government event in 2009 and immediately realized that swimming will help to ease the pain. Since then, des Moines was my star pupil and together we have achieved a worldwide fame and reputation. Des Moines is also very popular in social networks and in Twitter he has over 15 thousand subscribers. «My greatest moment in life was when the superstar of bollywood Shahrukh Khan subscribed to me on Twitter,» he says. «He also invited me to Mumbai and conducted a tour of the set. It was the happiest day of my life.»

Through hard work, perseverance and the support of mothers, des Moines has won 22 medals in various local and international Paralympic competitions.

Apart from swimming des Moines receives an education in Economics at a local University.

He continues to motivate people and hopes to take part in the Paralympic games. «I won a lot of medals and dream to represent my country in the Olympic games.»
