The court forgave the man who lost more than $500 thousand in the game «Rock-scissors-paper»

The court of appeal of Quebec (Canada) issued a decision in favor of men who lost more than half a million dollars playing a child’s game «Rock-scissors-paper».

Canadian Edmund mark Hooper failed in the 2011 contest.

According to reports the canadian newspaper the National Post, this defeat left him in debt to fellow-sportsman Michel Primo of $517 000. Hooper started to pay the debt, but later decided to sue the rival. In the end, the decision was made in his favor.

The chief justice held that, although «Rock-scissors-paper» is not just a game of chance, the amount was too big.

In accordance with the laws of Quebec, the rates allowed in competitions on the skill but not the luck, and the sum of rates cannot be «excessive».

Rival Huerta, Michelle Prima appealed, but lost. The appellate court also found that the game depends on chance and this means that it is impossible to prove «skill or physical stress».
