In the crystal clear canals of Venice noticed the octopus. Experts do not exclude that this is a joke

In the crystal clear waters of the canals of Venice noticed the octopus.

An unexpected guest surprised scientists when caught the eye of observers near Piazzale Roma. About his appearance was reported by scientists at Institute of Marine Sciences.

Local experts believe that the octopus has ever escaped from the fish market or sailed from the Adriatic sea. Although he could just be tossed into the water by local pranksters.

The Director of the Museum of natural history of Venice, Luca Mizzan said, «It’s really very strange that an octopus could get here in this place is so far from the sea and close to the coastal strip. Nothing can be ruled out, even that is a joke. The video shows what is, apparently, a healthy octopus, and he’s not afraid»,- he told the news publication Corriere del Veneto.

Octopus is very rare to see in the lagoon surrounding Venice, which has now marked the return of crabs, small fish and jellyfish in the local waters at the time, as they have no boats and tourists. Since then, as the waters ceased to be awash with boats, more clean channels has led to that people began to notice their fish. Noise pollution is also decreased significantly, what motivates living beings to sail the waters of Venice, whereas in normal times it scares them.

Local scientists believe that the water was not so clean ever in living memory.

Zoologist Andrea Mangoni said: «flora and fauna of the lagoon have not changed over the period of the quarantine. What has changed is our ability to see them.»

Video Andrea jellyfish slowly floating in the transparent channel, went viral on social networks.

Andrea added that life in Venice in these days similar to «prebyvanie on a coral reef». He added: «the Number of colors and incredible forms of life that makes the lagoon is unique».

But local experts warned that after several months of quarantine is not enough to have a significant impact on the quality of the lagoon ecosystem.

It is expected that tourists will be back in town in June, when Italy plans to re-open bars and restaurants.
