Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for peace agreement between Israel and UAE

In the nomination presented by Christian Tybring-Jedde, the Norwegian MP praised Trump's efforts to resolve protracted conflicts around the world.

Tybring-Jeddah, in his letter to the Nobel Committee, said the Trump administration has played a key role in resolving relations between Israel and the UAE.

“Other countries in the Middle East are expected to follow in the footsteps of the UAE, this agreement could change the rules of the game, turning the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity,” he wrote.

Tibring-Jeddah also praised Trump for pulling out large numbers of troops from the Middle East.

“Trump ended the 39-year tradition of American presidents who either go to war or involve the United States in an international armed conflict. The last president who did not do this was Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter, ”he wrote.

To date, 4 American presidents have received the Nobel Peace Prize. President Obama was honored in 2009 for «outstanding efforts to enhance international diplomacy and cooperation among nations.» President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906 — for «peace negotiations in the Russo-Japanese war.» President Woodrow Wilson in 1920 as “founder of the League of Nations”; and President Jimmy Carter in 2002 «for efforts to peacefully resolve conflicts around the world and fight for human rights.»
