Jessica A. Krug admitted that she grew up in Kansas City as a white child of Jewish descent. The professor published a post on Medium last week that led to an investigation at the university, where she was a history professor, specializing in Africa, Latin America, colonialism and imperialism.
In her confession, Krug revealed that she pretended to be black “in her youth,” and then continued to do so as an adult. She linked her decision to «severe trauma in early childhood and adolescence.»
Over the years, Krug wrote, she has created various variations of alleged ethnicity, including lying about her alleged North African and Caribbean roots.

“I have thought many times about putting an end to this lie , but my cowardice has always been stronger than my ethical standards. I know what is good and what is bad. I know the story. — wrote Jessica — I'm a coward. »
It is not known until the end why she decided to confess. Dr. Yomaira Figueroa, associate professor at Michigan State University, claims that Ms. Krug has been exposed.
«There was no witch hunt, but there was a line to be drawn,» she tweeted.
“The circle decided to get ahead of the action when she was caught and realized that the clock was ticking.”

Several of Krug's history faculty colleagues were so «shocked and overwhelmed» by the scam that they posted a letter requesting either Krug's resignation or that the school withdraw her term so that Krug could be fired.
Jessica resigned Wednesday. Krystal Nosal, a spokesperson for GW, said in an email that other teachers will take over her classes next semester.
