New York subway station name changed overnight in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Overnight, an unknown person remodeled a mosaic panel at a New York subway station to be renamed in honor of the late Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

ABC7 New York tweeted footage showing someone changed the station name from 50th Street to Ruth Street. There is no word yet on who is behind the surprise tribute to the legendary civil rights judge and Brooklyn native on the C / E line.

Ginsburg, who has served on the Supreme Court since 1993, died Friday night of complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer. The judge fought the disease for two years, without ceasing to devote all of herself to her work.

The death of the feminist icon has sparked fierce controversy over whether President Trump should appoint her replacement and whether the Senate should vote to confirm it — or after the election.
