A pregnant woman from Florida threw herself into the water to save her husband, who was bitten on the shoulder by a shark while snorkeling.

Andrew Eddie, 30, was on a private boat ride with his wife Margot Dukes-Eddie and other family members on Sunday morning when the man took a swim at Sombrero Reef. However, as soon as Eddie dived, a shark appeared and grabbed his shoulder.

According to a police report, Dukes «saw a shark's dorsal fin and then the water filled with blood.» Without hesitation, Margot also jumped into the water and dragged her husband back onto the boat while the other family members dialed 911.

On the footage made by the dispatcher, one of the couple's relatives is heard desperately screaming, «Can anyone help me?»

“We are at the Sombrero lighthouse, my son-in-law has just been bitten on the shoulder by a shark. We need help immediately. »

«Basically, [the shark] grabbed a piece of his shoulder,» adds the unknown man.

According to police, Eddie was safely taken to the hospital. He is currently being treated at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital. The man's condition was not disclosed.
