Trump-Biden's first presidential debate: the main

The first presidential debate between President Trump and Joe Biden took place in Cleveland on Tuesday night. They were remembered for loud shouts, mutual insults and the way the president constantly interrupted his opponent. But most of all the debates were remembered by the fact that no one understood anything, and there was no winner.

The debate has already been called the worst in history. All agree that the discussion never took place: instead, voters saw chaos and disorder, flagrant violation of the rules of debate, mutual attacks, insults and distortion of facts.

Trump refused to condemn white supremacists

One of the key points in the debate was Trump's refusal to condemn white supremacist supporters.

When asked to condemn white supremacist violence, President Trump responded that the far-right Proud Boys should «step back and stay out of the way» before immediately stating that US violence «is not a problem for the right.»

«This is a problem for the left,» said the current American leader.

Pandemic COVID-19

Joe Biden accused Trump of being unable to prepare for the COVID-19 pandemic, and by holding back the facts and downplaying the danger of the virus, he plunged the country into chaos.

“The president has no plan. He offered nothing. Back in February, he knew how serious this crisis was. — said the former vice president of the United States — He knew it was a deadly disease.

“And what did he do? He claims that he did not tell us or warn us because he did not want to sow panic among the American people. «

In response, Trump said: “If we listened to you, the country would now be open to everyone. Millions of people would have died, not 200 thousand. «

Biden's son attacks

In an effort to piss off Biden, President Trump remembered that his son Joe Biden Hunter was kicked out of the army after he failed a drug test (cocaine). Biden responded by saying that his son, like many people, had a drug problem — and that he was “proud” that Hunter had overcome his addiction.

Mutual insults

In the end, both candidates turned to open insults. Trump told Biden, «Never use the word 'smart' on me … There is nothing smart about you, Joe.»

Biden called Trump a liar and said, “This man doesn't know what he's talking about. This guy is just something … He is Putin's pet dog. «

At some point, when Trump interrupted him once again, not allowing him to speak, Biden blurted out: «Won't you shut up, buddy? … This is not presidential.»

Expert reaction

“What a grim event we've just witnessed,” said MSNBC presenter Brian Williams as his station returned to the studio after the debate.

“It was the worst debate I've ever seen. Not debate, but shame. Added CNN host Jake Tapper. “We'll talk a bit more about who [the candidates] won and who lost, but one thing's for sure: the American people lost tonight. This is terrible».

What else is interesting?

Biden raised a record $ 3.8 million in 1 hour during his debate with Trump. This is the largest amount raised by a campaign in one hour in the history of a debate.

Hours before the debate, a new conspiracy theory emerged online that Joe Biden would wear an electronic device in his ear. The idea went viral on social media and even Biden joked about it on Twitter.

Experts have already studied in detail the statements of the participants in the debates, finding false statements in the arsenal of both. For example, Trump said that Biden opposed the introduction of restrictions on entry into the States from China during the pandemic — despite the fact that the ex-vice supported temporary measures — and argued that Dr.Anthony Fauci initially spoke out against wearing masks (that never made such statements).

Biden, in turn, exaggerated, speaking of a 17-15% drop in violent crime during the Obama administration, and blamed Trump for hiding in a bunker during the White House protests — although this has not been proven.
