Americans drink more alcohol than in 2019

According to a study published in JAMA, Americans have been drinking more often and in large quantities since last year.

Experts warn that the stress of the pandemic has triggered alcohol and drug abuse. The greatest changes have occurred among women and people from 30 to 59 years old.

Adults between the ages of 30 and 59 have increased their alcohol consumption by 19% over the previous year. The frequency of alcohol consumption among women also increased by 17%.

In addition, online alcohol sales were up 262% compared to 2019. On average, 3 out of 4 adults consumed 1 day more alcohol per month.
