Registration in the Green Card-2022 program starts on October 7

Registration in the Green Card-2022 program starts on October 7

Online registration for the Diversity Visa Program 2022 (DV-2022) will begin on October 7, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST and will end on November 10, 2020 at 12:00 PM ET, according to the US Department of State website.

If you decide to try your luck and get a green card, you should pay attention to several points.

  • Please read the DV-2022 requirements and instructions carefully to understand if you can apply. We already wrote about them last year, this — little will change.
  • Applicants may be disqualified for filling out the form incorrectly or for submitting more than one application on their behalf.
  • You must submit your electronic applications during the registration period using the electronic registration forms (E-DV format).

There is no registration fee for the program. If you happen to be one of the lottery winners, you will have to pay the visa application fee at the US Embassy when you arrive for your interview at the consulate.

Earlier, the US Department of State Consular Bureau published its September 2020 Visa Bulletin, announcing its FY2021 Diversity Lottery results.

The 2021 Visa Lottery winners were selected at random from 6,741,128 applications from around the world. The number of applicants was significantly lower than last year's DV-2020 lottery, when the department received more than 14 million qualified entries.

Fewer people were eligible to apply in the past year due to program innovations designed to limit fraud among lottery participants.

Here are the 15 countries that recorded the largest number of selected candidates:

  • Egypt — 6,002
  • Iran — 6,001
  • Russia — 6 001
  • Algeria — 6,001
