Caitlin Yosviak from Macon, Georgia, was found in a filthy room infested with parasites. Now her parents, Joey Yosvyak, 38, and Mary Catherine Horton, 37, are charged with murder.

According to investigators, the girl's death was caused by cardiac arrest as a result of severe anemia, which was probably provoked by repeated head lice bites.

Her parents, arrested after Caitlyn's death, are charged with parental neglect and child abuse that led to her death.

The girl did not wash for at least a week before she died of a heart attack. The child lived in a dirty room — with parasites that were found under the mattress, in stuffed toys and on furniture. She has not been to school since February, police said.

Special Agent Ryan Hilton of the Bureau of Investigation Investigations told WMAZ-TV that this is the «worst» lice infestation they have ever encountered.

Caitlin tried to give up for adoption after birth in 2008, but her mother and father changed their minds at the last moment. The girl's older brothers had already been taken away from home because of the terrible conditions in which they lived, according to ABC13.

Both parents are charged with second-degree murder and second-degree child abuse.
