President Donald Trump said Friday that he and the first lady have tested positive for the coronavirus.
“In the evening, @FLOTUS and I were diagnosed with COVID-19. — wrote the president on his Twitter — We will immediately begin quarantine and treatment. We can handle it together! «
Later, Melania added on social networks that she and her husband «feel good.»
This diagnosis represents the most serious known health threat to the incumbent US president in decades. Because of his age and weight class, the 74-year-old Trump is one of the most vulnerable patient groups.

Trump was last seen in public on Thursday afternoon, when he returned to the White House after a fundraising campaign in New Jersey. According to media reports, he did not appear ill, although he did not speak to reporters before entering the residence.
Earlier, Trump announced that he plans to isolate himself after COVID-19 was found in one of his closest aides, Hope Hicks. During a pre-recorded address at the annual Al Smith Dinner, the President declared that «the pandemic is nearing its end.»
To date, more than 200,000 Americans and more than 1 million people worldwide have died from the coronavirus.
