Japanese designer Kenzo Takada and founder of the iconic brand Kenzo has passed away at the age of 81 at the American Hospital in Paris from complications related to the coronavirus.
“It is with great sadness that Kenzo confirms the news of the passing of our founder. — said in the official statement of the fashion house — For more than half a century, Mr. Takada remained one of the most iconic figures in the industry, filling the world around him with flowers and creativity.
“His optimism, love of life and generosity are the pillars of Kenzo. We will miss him and will never forget him. «

Known for bold patterns, eccentric prints, and eclectic use of color, Takada was the first Japanese designer to gain prominence in the Parisian fashion scene. He officially retired in 1999 to pursue a career in art, but remained one of the most influential people in the world of Parisian fashion for the rest of his life.

The famous fashion designer said that he wanted to create clothes «that make people happy» and believed that real fashion «should not be too serious.» According to its official representative, the couturier «never stopped admiring fashion and beauty of life», giving them their due in his works.
