Japanese designer Kenzo Takada and founder of the iconic brand Kenzo has passed away at the age of 81 at the American Hospital in Paris from complications related to the coronavirus.

Known for bold patterns, eccentric prints, and eclectic use of color, Takada was the first Japanese designer to gain prominence in the Parisian fashion scene. He officially retired in 1999 to pursue a career in art, but remained one of the most influential people in the world of Parisian fashion for the rest of his life.
