The teacher's quick reaction saved the student's grandmother when she had a stroke

An elementary school teacher in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, became a local celebrity after her attentiveness saved the life of a student's grandmother.

Julia Koch, who teaches first grade at Edgewood Elementary School, was teaching students on September 22 when she learned that one of them had technical problems with distance learning equipment.

The girl's device was not charging and Koch decided to contact her grandmother to find out the cause of the problem.

“When she started talking, I realized that something was wrong,” Koch recalls, “although I didn’t understand what it was.”

She was right. Cynthia Phillips suffered a stroke and was in desperate need of emergency care. Fortunately, Koch immediately informed the school administration about what was happening, which, in turn, called 911.

As of Monday, Phillips was still under medical supervision but was on the mend.

“Thanks for saving my life. — the woman turned to the staff of the school — If [you] did not come to the rescue, I would simply not be here. «
