Montana woman tries to sell her uterus on Etsy for $ 970

A woman trying to sell her uterus on Etsy is lobbying for the right to sell organs that need to be removed for medical reasons to cover the cost of surgery.

24-year-old Patricia Prakash has fibroids — a non-malignant neoplasm that occurs in the muscle layer of the uterus. Because of it, the organ may have to be removed soon.

To cover the cost of the surgery, an online tutor from Eureka, Montana posted an ad for her uterus for $ 969 on Etsy, but the page was quickly removed. Then the woman petitioned the US government, demanding to legalize the sale of organs, which must be removed for medical reasons.

Patricia says that almost all women in her family had to have their uterus removed from their mothers due to the condition between the ages of 20 and 30.

“My time is approaching and I am worried that I may have to spend a lot of money on an operation. Therefore, I decided to sell [my uterus], ”the woman explains.

«Since she needs to be removed for medical reasons, why not make some money at the same time — if only to pay the hospital bills.»

According to Prakash, the petition has “not received much attention yet” — and although the Etsy page the woman created to “increase publicity” has been removed, she plans to create new ones on eBay and Letgo.

“I know that my case alone will hardly be enough to change any laws. — notes Patricia — I just hope that my petition will draw attention to such situations.
