30-year-old Texas woman dies of COVID-19 on board plane before takeoff

Authorities confirmed Sunday that a 30-year-old woman, who died on board the plane while awaiting takeoff this July, had died from the coronavirus, BuzzFeed News reported.

According to sources, the woman from Garland, Texas, whose name has not been released, developed breathing problems and was given oxygen before she died. It is unclear whether the deceased knew that she was infected with COVID-19 before boarding the plane en route from Arizona to Texas. Dallas County also confirmed that she suffered from a chronic medical condition that could complicate her illness.

Judge Clay Jenkins said that although the incident occurred on July 25, the county did not find out that COVID-19 was the cause of the woman's death until a few days ago. He added that the incident should be a reminder that «there is no age limit for the coronavirus.»

“I strongly advise citizens not to think that they are immune to COVID-19 because they do not seem to be at risk,” Jenkins said.

It is not known at which airport and on board of which airline the incident occurred.
