Prominent Long Island laryngotorinologist tried to trade drugs for intimate services

A legislator and respected doctor from Long Island, New York, was arrested after allegedly offering a woman drugs in exchange for sexual favors.

According to law enforcement officials, Dr. William Spencer was arrested in the parking lot behind the Goodwill store in Elwood on Tuesday afternoon. The man was in a car belonging to Suffolk County at the time of his arrest.

Officials said Spencer was waiting in the parking lot with a woman he was planning to have sex with in exchange for pills — not knowing that this was a special operation organized by the Suffolk County District Attorney, Suffolk and Nassau County Police, and Drug Enforcement Administration agents. … Presumably, the authorities became interested in the doctor during a previous investigation related to drugs.

Spencer is a laryngotorinologist who has been legislative since 2011 and was also a member of the opioid working group as part of his work for the US government. Almost a third of the resolutions it has proposed since 2012 have focused on health and drug abuse.

The media was unable to contact Spencer for comment.
