Former Vice President Joe Biden won all 5 votes in Dixville Notch, a tiny New Hampshire town located on the US-Canadian border that was one of the first in the country to announce the presidential race. According to the 2010 census, the city had only 12 residents.

The ballots were cast in minutes after midnight and were among the first ballots counted on election day.

Traditionally, all eligible voters gather in the legendary Dixville Notch “voting room” to vote in secret as soon as the elections begin at midnight. After each ballot is cast, the votes are counted and the results announced — hours before any other vote, making this a favorite with reporters and observers hungry for any hint of what is about to happen on election day.

In 2016, Dixville Notch selected then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, although the election was ultimately won by Donald Trump.

Nearby Millsfield also opened its polling stations at midnight. There, Trump overtook Biden with a score of 16-5.
