Biden defeats Trump in Pennsylvania to become the new US president

According to CBS, Joe Biden was able to get 273 electoral college votes — 3 more than it takes to become president of the United States.

The former vice president managed to win the race by beating his opponent, Donald Trump, in Pennsylvania. In total, 74,488,579 Americans voted for him — more than any other president in the country's history.

“America, it is an honor for me to lead our great country. — He wrote in an official statement on Twitter — We have a lot of work ahead, but I promise that I will become the president of all Americans, regardless of whether you voted for me or not.

America, I'm honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country.

The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.

I will keep the faith that you have placed in me. pic.twitter.com/moA9qhmjn8
