«The will of Kadyrov» in Chechnya are forced to reunite a broken family

The Commission, known as the Council for the harmonization of marriage and family relations, said that over the past two months she «reunited» 948 couples, some of them after years of separation. If the former spouses do not wish to join the reunion takes place forcefully, often with the participation of the police.

In the programs, covering the life of reunited spouses that show how they live after met again. In General, these pairs under one roof, avoiding each other. At the same time, they try to devote time to children.

«This happy reunion was made possible thanks to the program leader of the region», — quotes a television reporter for The New York Times. «Despite their mutual antagonism, hundreds of married couples answer the call.»

The main argument in favor of the program, according to one of the Chechen women who have survived «reunion» is a simple phrase: «It is the will of Kadyrov.»

But obedience is not just the desire of couples to do the will of the leader. For non-compliance, they face severe stigmatization, which is much harder than staying with the unloved man. It is not excluded that there are other ways of influencing «rebellious».

In addition, the program is in itself and other goal – the proper education of children parents of both genders. It appeared after last winter in Chechnya has been brutal repression against gays. People were calculated with the help of different sites. Law enforcement officers and other organizations have posted messages about wanting to meet and then found, arrested, and tortured those who responded. About it tell the LGBT community who managed to leave Chechnya.

The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov said that children of divorced parents are more likely to be Islamist militants, especially if they grow up with their mother. It also was one of the reasons for the introduction of the program.

About the idea Kadyrov said: «If they (husband and wife) could live together and have three, four or five children, why divorce then? If everything was in order before the advent of five children, why can’t they live together for the kids?».

It should be noted that the presence of ex-husband’s new wife is not a hindrance to reunion. The Chechens are Muslims and according to their religious law, polygamy is allowed.
