Democrat Senator from Connecticut Chris Murphy urged Congress to «raise their ass and do something» against the law about guns after a mass shooting in Las Vegas.
As ABC7 reports, Murphy was a key figure in the fight for tougher laws on firearms after the tragedy of 2012 in Connecticut.
Then, in December, 20-year-old Adam Peter Lanza shot home his mother, then came to the elementary school sandy hook, where he killed 20 children six and seven years of age, six adults, then killed himself.
«Nowhere but in America, terrible mass shootings don’t happen with such regularity,» said the Senator. «Shooting in Las Vegas could become the bloodiest in the history of our country, but from the beginning of 2017 mass shootings in the United States was more than days in a year».
Last year, Murphy introduced a bill which would have tightened the checks and controls against gun owners, but this bill is not passed.
«This has to stop. My colleagues in Congress are so afraid of big weapons, pretend against this epidemic, no state response,» said Murphy. «But these measures are. And all the words of the politicians that their thoughts and prayers are with the victims are not worth anything if they are combined with a complete legislative indifference. It is time for Congress to raise their ass and do something».
