There are two versions of paintings by world famous French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir «Two sisters (On the terrace)».
Since 1933, one of them hangs in the art Museum «the art Institute of Chicago». The second is in the new York apartment President Donald trump.
One of the paintings is a forgery and the Institute of arts claims that the copy from trump. But the President does not agree.
Biographer Donald trump Tim O’brien, who grew up in Chicago and is well versed in painting, told Vanity Fairthat he first spoke about the painting a few years ago. Then it hung in a private jet tycoon.
«I noticed that this Renoir is in Chicago, but trump continued to insist on. He said that it is the original,» said O’brien.
After trump sold his jet plane «Two sisters» moved to new York. The picture was visible on the back when Donald trump gave an interview after his election victory in 2016. «I’m sure he’s still talking to people who come to the apartment: this is the original,» added O’brien.
Press Secretary of the art Institute of Chicago Amanda Hicks told the Chicago Тribune that the institution does not doubt in his picture. According to her, Renoir was donated to the Museum in 1933, Annie Swan Coburn, who bought him for 100 thousand dollars the buyer of paintings by Paul Durand-Ruel. Durand-RUEIL, in turn, acquired the painting from the artist in 1881.
The white house has not commented on the origin of the «Renoir» of trump.
