On the waterfront DUMBO has opened a new Museum

Yesterday, the Brooklyn Historical Society , inaugurated the new Museum on the waterfront DUMBO. A new Outpost of the organization, dubbed «the Brooklyn historical society, DUMBO» (not too original, but correspond to the truth), located in the complex of the Empire Stores. This building, which is now in the distant XIX century was used as a warehouse, was recently restored to once again delight the eyes of passers-by on Water Street.

Exhibits a debut exhibition of a new cultural center called «new angle: photographs of the waterfront of Brooklyn» were the photographs of the embankment. Visitors to the Museum can see the works of 25 photographers, including Berenice Abbott, Rudy Burckhardt, Bruce Davidson, Chester Higgins, and Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao. In December, the exhibition halls will take another major long-term exhibition on the same theme. It will illuminate the intertwining stories of workers, artists, activists, and innovators with the waterfront of Brooklyn.

Today the Museum is open to the public from noon to 6 PM. For future months are scheduled two public programs that will focus on the history of sexual minorities in the waterfront district of Brooklyn (June 8) and inspiration for writers and artists of the Brooklyn waterfront has become over the years of its existence (June 21).
