The legendary B. B. King Blues Club in times square closed due to the increase in rent

Sunday, April 29 the doors of the legendary club B. B. King Blues closed forever. The last day of the institution, which delighted the frequenters of times square for 18 years, was marked by a performance of George buddy guy.

This was preceded by a week of farewell concerts featuring Rick Ross, George Clinton, group El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and Parliament-Funkadelic.

According to B. B. King Blues, all shows planned for the period after may 29, will be held in other places.

«Due to the increase in rent we’re forced to close its doors at the end of April,» — said institution on their pages in social networks.

However, not all is hopeless. B. B. King Blues not going to completely curtail their activities, but only looking for new premises in Manhattan cheaper.

Because of the increased rental prices in the Central part of the city closed several dozen institutions. Recently, a group of restaurateurs approached the authorities requesting permission to charge customers a fee to rent and staff salaries. Activists see this as the only way to keep the business in the current environment.
