ExxonMobil fined $2 000 000 for violations of sanctions

The Department of the office for foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury Department imposed a fine in the amount of 2 000 000 USD ExxonMobil Corp. (Irving, Texas), and its subsidiaries in the US, ExxonMobil Development Co. and ExxonMobil Oil Corp. («ExxonMobil») For violations of § 589.201 sanctions regulations against Russia and 31 CFR Part 589 (the Provisions on sanctions related to the Ukraine).

In the period from 14 may 2014 to 23 may 2014, the company ExxonMobil has violated § 589.201 sanctions regulations. The presidents of American subsidiaries provide services to persons, property and capital which are under sanctions. Namely, they signed eight legal instruments related to oil and gas projects in Russia, with President of OAO NK»Rosneft» Igor Sechin.

The Department stressed that ExxonMobil is not notified of the violation voluntarily, which is totally unacceptable.
