Climbers continue to rise, despite two landslide in Yosemite

Mountains in Yosemite national Park are not the safest place. This was confirmed by two facts of rockfalls that occurred on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite this, the climbers claim they will not give up his passion of climbing to the top of El Capitan. It is reported ABC7news.

Climber Simon Moore has climbed El Capitan seven times. He is very familiar with the area where the collapsed rocks.

«Usually when there’s a rockfall, we avoid this area for quite a long time until the situation stabiliziruemost, said Moore. – Because, as only one segment falls off, often start falling down other small pieces.»

He, like many in their club, insists that rock falls do not prevent them to surrender their «passion.»

«I’m not going to leave San Francisco, because there could be an earthquake, said a rock climbing instructor Jesse Coat. – Similarly, I’m not going to go away, because there could be falling rocks».

Sports climber is still planning a one-day ascent on El Capitan, although his friend had died on this route two years ago. He said: «I’d rather die doing what I love than, for example, to get over the car.»

We will remind, 2 days ago, 32-year-old Andrew foster died in a landslide, and his wife, who suffered serious injuries was taken by helicopter to the hospital.

As reported by NY Times, after the collapse on Wednesday was followed by more extensive rockfall the next day on Thursday. It happened at about 15:30 in the same part of the El Capitan, which had fallen the day before. The second collapse injured one tourist, but his condition is not critical.

It became known that the Park captures approximately 80 cases of rock falls per year, but as a result of these collapses climbers seldom result in injury.
