Yesterday, December 13, the jury of the court for Miami for the third time convicted a woman who was regularly beaten and, in the end, brutally killed his son in 1990.
Ana Maria Cardona was convicted of first-degree murder and abuse of a child aggravated. A victim of the woman became her own son – 3-year-old Lazaro, Figaro.
The brutality of this murder has shocked South Florida back in 1990. Exhausted and battered corpse of a boy was discovered in bushes at home in safe area of Miami beach. The detectives, who could not immediately identify the child, called him Baby Lollipops because of the image on the shirt of the victim. This is the name most often appeared in the media to refer to things.
When the identity of the boy has been able to establish, the police immediately poisoned in search of his mother. The fact that the woman was hiding, automatically made her a suspect. The police managed to find the Cardon, which later appeared before the court.
During the investigation, several friends and acquaintances of the family testified that Cardona belonged to the poor boy, often left him in the care of others, beat and not fed.

According to the coroner, the boy was repeatedly beaten, so much so that his arm was permanently bent at an angle of 90 degrees, and the teeth were absent. The tissue between the lips and gums disappeared. During the trial, the Prosecutor stated that before the death of the boy’s mother brutally beat him and left him to die in the bushes Miami Beach.
The story 27-year-old could not leave indifferent even the judge of the County of Miami-Dade Miguel de La O, who said before the sentencing:
«I don’t think you will meet Lazaro in the afterlife. Your actions were monstrous. Some wild animals show more feelings for their offspring than you Lazaro».
Despite attempts Cordons to blame for the death of the son of his former girlfriend Olivia Gonzalez, a jury ruled that the woman guilty on all counts, and for the third time sentenced her to life imprisonment.
