Fire in California in the next few days could become the largest in the history

Forest fire Thomas, who devastated 270 thousand acres (1093 sq. km) in southern California, is set to become the largest fire in modern state history.

The largest known to date a fire of Cedar in 2003 burned 273 246 acres (1106 sq km). Thomas is considered the third largest and the magnitude of destruction by fire. According to Cal Fire, the fire destroyed more than 1,000 buildings, with 18 million homes are still under threat.

A total of two people, including one firefighter, were killed since the start of the fires. Sunday held the funeral of 32-year-old engineer firefighter Corey David Iverson. The funeral procession began in Ventura and went through 3 counties – Los Angeles, San Bernardino and riverside before arriving at the funeral home in San Diego.

According to the autopsy, Iverson died from «thermal injuries and inhalation of smoke.» The man had a pregnant wife and two year old daughter.

According to Cal Fire, the struggle with the elements it has spent at least 110 million 286 thousand dollars. Officials report that the fire Department will probably be able to contain the fire only by January 7.
