Dozens of suspected members most dangerous gang in the country — the MS-13 were arrested in new York and long island — told the Federal government Wednesday. Earlier it was reported that the gang moved to new York.
During the RAID, called «Operation Matador«, was detained 45 participants of different gangs, of which 39 were in MS-13. The arrests was conducted by the NYPD, police departments, Nassau and Suffolk counties, Immigration and customs enforcement, the United States, and the national security services.
20 of those arrested has a criminal record. All the detained men. Twenty-seven originally from El Salvador, 11 from Honduras, 5 from Mexico and 2 from Guatemala.
Angel Melendez, special agent at homeland security, said: «the International gangs like MS-13 bring violence and discord in our society, and their existence is unacceptable. Their criminal activity is a serious problem for law enforcement agencies.»
Most of those arrested are deported from the country. The rest will be transferred for consideration by the immigration judge.
