Hackers from the group of Fancy Bear set his sights on the U.S. Senate

According to information from the report of the company Trend Micro, dealing with cybersecurity, hacking Association Fancy Bear have launched a chain of sites, similar in principle to operate an internal e-mail system of the United States Senate. The aim was hacking the computer network of the Senate.

Group of hackers engaged in cyber espionage, conducting attacks on government, military and other structures.

Fancy Bear is suspected of having links with the Russian government and stealing e-mails of the National Committee of the US Democratic party during the presidential elections in 2016.

Another example of their activities – the attack on the World anti-doping Agency (WADA), theft of correspondence of senior members of the organization and publication of the January 10 information, according to the group, confirming the installation of the Committee to prevent athletes from Russia for the Olympic games.

In response to the statement «bears» reporter WADA called hackers criminal group: «As you know, Fancy Bear — a criminal organization that seeks to undermine the work of WADA and its partners. All that they published on January 10, obsolete».

Tactics, part of which is the creation of websites that are similar to sites of the Senate, was used by the group and in the case of theft of letters from members of WADA.

Hackers is not the first time gunning for the Senate. In 2015 and 2016, the Associated Press wrote about the attacks on the Senator of Florida Marco Rubio and U.S. Senator from Kentucky Mitch McConnell.

«These suspicious websites associated with other previously identified infrastructure Fancy Bear and raise the question of a campaign against the upcoming winter games in 2018,» said another firm involved in cybersecurity – ThreatConnect.

«Currently, we cannot hundred percent confirm that these sites are created by the malicious and linked to the Fancy Bear, without more data,» said the firm.
