From police reports it follows that the 26-year-old mother of Indianapolis left two young children in a car for 80 minutes, went for an interview at Community Hospital North. The incident occurred when the city experienced a record cold. The air temperature in the street was not more than 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-15 degrees Celsius).

Left in the car alone, 4-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter of the woman began to freeze and still went outside. The children went to the counter registry of the hospital where their mother was interviewed. According to police reports, they were pale and shaking. Later, police measured the temperature inside the car, it was only 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 degrees Celsius).

«No matter what the temperature outside, to leave small children alone in the car – always a bad idea,» — said the representative of police of Indiana, John Perrin.

On return, the mother argued that only a few minutes left the car. However, the recordings from surveillance cameras shows that the car window was covered with frost, and the mother was absent for 1 hour and 19 minutes.

«Take the kids with me. I know that finding a nanny is not always possible, but take them inside you always. This can be inconvenient, but safety is not always convenient and you have to be sure that you are doing something safe,» said Perrin.

After many trials, the mother still has to go home, not holding her. However, police reports were sent to the service dealing with issues of violence against children.
