Fire on Staten Island: 15 people injured

Intense fire in a large apartment building on Staten island Sunday night was the cause of the hospitalization of 15 people, including several firefighters and police officers. Some of the injured are very serious injuries, but firefighters say that all were provided appropriate medical care they need to survive.

The fire broke out in an apartment on the fourth floor in Tysen Park on Miller Road. Very quickly the flames engulfed and 5th floor of the building.

According to the preliminary version, the cause of the fire was the cat that knocked over a burning candle on the floor in the bedroom of one of the apartments. The hostess and her three children managed to run out and escape, in the fire killed 2 cats living in the apartment.

About 250 firefighters battled the fire, which was extinguished at 9:30 in the morning.

Everything from fire affected 6 families, four of which are in serious need of help, say the Red Cross.

Apparently, such a large number of victims due to the fact that the flames broke out in the night, when all the inhabitants of the house slept.
