According to representatives of schools, if an armed intruder gets into the territory of educational institutions, nobody is going to rely on «honest confrontation.» In this case, the administration Manatee School for the Arts made a choice in favor of firing the benefits and skills of combat veterans.

«We rely on an overwhelming advantage,» said bill Jones, Director of the school.

According to a law passed after the mass shooting in Parkland, schools in Florida must provide on its territory the presence of the safety officer. However, in most cases, school administrators are limited to one person armed with a gun. Manatee School for the Arts has decided otherwise.

One of the officers has served in the US army for over 15 years and has participated in combat operations. The second employee also is an honored veteran. Besides extensive combat experience, the two guards took a special course of training, which was supervised by the local police Department.

«I don’t want at the critical moment they first appeared in a similar situation,» said Jones, alluding to the fact that the veterans of the army will not lose his head when under fire.

The headmaster also noted that before making a final decision, the administration of the Manatee School for the Arts and discussed all sorts of options. In the end, the choice was made in favor of experienced professionals who will be able to quickly navigate in case of an attack. Each of the guards will get $50 thousand a year.
