The chivalrous act of a young man, unfortunately, was the last in his life when he drowned in a heroic attempt to save a girl when capsized her kayak.
The tragic incident occurred on the Ohio river directly opposite Louisville, in Kentucky, when 28-year-old Travis Hughes rode on the kayak with his girlfriend Jamie Dunaway (31) and with his brother Mitchell Hughes (30 years). All three came from Peewee valley, Kentucky.
At some point Jamie’s kayak capsized when it bumped the wave, and Travis tried to save her, said in his statement to the News and Tribune employees of the Department of natural resources of Indiana (DNR). The result of this attempt overturned his own kayak.
Jamie was able to swim to the nearest land, but Travis wasn’t so lucky.
