Former boxer single-handedly stopped an armed robber on the train and then as if nothing had happened went to the marathon

One of the passengers in Chicago has managed to capture on video the incredible act of a former boxer who single-handedly stopped an armed robber.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning, shortly before the start of the Chicago marathon. Jean-Paul La Pierre, 54, came out of the CTA train when he noticed how some of the companions fearfully ran out after him.

«I said [to another passenger]: something here not so, says the man — and he said that some guy walks through the train and Rob the people. This wildly pissed me off».

Then La Pierre decided to come back and repel the robber, who was later identified as 30-year-old Tremaine Anderson.

«I went up to him, said to give me the gun and we began to fight. — says the man — <…> I was furious. When you see someone pulls a gun, it really pisses me off».

Video La Pierre — holds a black belt in karate and a former boxer who participated in the Golden Gloves — able to disarm and subdue the robber, turned his back to the door of the train. He begins to cry and demand to release him, but the man is resolute.

«I’m a fighter. — he says the attacker, not allowing me to move — I can break your neck with one blow. <…> If I want to hit you seven times in three seconds».

It then passes the gun to one of the passengers, and asked to put the safety on. Surprisingly unfazed, the woman responds, she has no idea how to do it.

According to La Pierre, the suspect was at the train friends: a group of people approached the man and demanded the release of Anderson, but he continued to hold the robber until the police arrived, ignoring the threats.

«I said to him, make a move and I’ll knock you out».

After he helped to detain the criminal, La Pierre as if nothing had happened went about their business: at the Chicago marathon. The man who comes to the race especially of Boston in 12-th time, says that the incident hasn’t dampened his impressions about the city.

«This is one of the best places I’ve been. — says ex-boxer And incidents happen everywhere. That’s life».

Anderson was arrested. He charged in one case of armed robbery.
