In the Bronx, attacked a policewoman and killed her

Wednesday, July 5, around 00:30, 48-year-old Miosotis Familia, an employee of the new York police Department, was mortally wounded by a shot in the head while she was sitting in a patrol car with the emblem of the NYPD. It happened in the Bronx, on the corner of Morris Avenue and East 183rd Street.

It is known that in the moment when the attacker approached the car, the Familia wrote something in his notebook, and most likely not noticed the man. He shot through the window on the passenger side.

Sitting beside him in the car with her colleague immediately reported the incident and called for help, reinforcements.

James O’neill, Commissioner of the NYPD, said that the attack was sudden and nothing preceded.

“Based on what we know now, it was an unprovoked attack on police officers who work to keep this great city safe,” he said.

The wounded were taken to Familia medical center Saint Barnabas, where doctors concluded that she died from suffered injuries.

The dead woman is the mother of three children. Prior to the service in the police, for two years she was a physician assistant at American Red Cross in new York and spent five years as a nurse at New York University Hospital.

Law enforcement officers managed to arrest the suspect, who was 34-year-old Alexander bonds. He was armed with a silver revolver. It is known that he previously assaulted police officers.

Bonds tried to resist the police, so they had to open fire. One of the bullets became for it fatal.

During the shooting injured witness, who was wounded in the abdomen, but his condition is stable.

“The city celebrated independence Day, one of those days that we look forward to every year. The police Department of new York has done an outstanding job protecting our city… and was struck by a tragic event,” commented bill De Blasio, mayor of new York.
