«One of the worst sights that I saw»: a woman torn alive by wild pigs

In Texas a woman was mauled by a wild pig near a private house in a rural area in the South-East of the state.

As reported to journalists by the Sheriff of the County chambers Brian Hawthorne, the tragedy occurred on Sunday, November 24. The victim, 59-year-old Christine Rollins, looked after the elderly couple who lived in a house on a plot of approximately 10 acres in Anahuac (Texas).

On Sunday, Christine, as usual, came to the couple’s home about 6 o’clock in the morning when it was still dark and apparently wild pigs wandering around the house.

Initially, the authorities were not sure that the death of Rollins guilty of animals. They assumed that the woman became ill, she lost consciousness, and after this she was attacked by wild boars. But an autopsy conducted Monday, November 25, confirmed the cause of death as blood loss «due to the attack of wild pigs.»

«I’ve worked here 35 years and this was one of the worst paintings I’ve ever seen,» said Sheriff Hawthorne.
84-year-old homeowner found the body of Rollins in the yard after she came to work. He immediately called 911.

The Sheriff called the woman’s death «incredibly tragic» and added that wild pigs «captured» some of the pastures and woods around the house and they are a problem throughout the district chambers.

«The Sheriff’s office regularly helps ranchers and farmers, providing traps for pigs, but for many years in the United States there were only six cases that a wild pig attacked people, and it was fatal,» said Hawthorne.
