A resident of Somerset (Massachusetts) bitten by her own dogwhen a woman had a seizure and convulsion, and she fell unconscious.
The tragedy occurred on Friday evening. According to representatives of police of Somerset, they received a call from the daughter of a victim who said that her mother, 44-year-old Melissa Astacio had an attack in her home on Lees River Avenue.
«Everything that I wanted my mom to her three children lived better than she ever was,» said haven, a daughter Melissa.
Authorities said that when the woman fell, she was attacked by the family dog, eight-year-old pit bull named Amigo.
Officers were forced to shoot the dog with a tranquilizer to help Melissa Astacio. The woman was rushed to hospital where she unfortunately died from his injuries.
Haven said that doesn’t blame the dog in what happened.
«I don’t think he tried to attack her. I think Amigo was just trying to help my mom, but he’s just a dog, and he didn’t know how to do it,» said the girl.
Rescue animals while placed the dog in quarantine at the shelter. His fate is not yet determined.
Neighbors told NBC 10 that their community is very United and are familiar with Melissa from an early age. The dog lived with them since he was a puppy. Melissa has three daughters and a grandson. According to haven, she is grateful for all the support the sisters received from the community.
The investigation continues, but police in Somerset have already noted that not suspect any «foul play».
