On the Mexican border was discovered the longest known in the South-West tunnels to smuggle drugs to the United States.

One entrance is located in an industrial area in Tijuana (Mexico), and from him the tunnel extends more than 4,300 feet (1,300 meters) in the surrounding area San Diego (California).
«Infrastructure and the length of this tunnel demonstrate the efforts of transnational criminal organizations for smuggling,» said Cardell Morant, acting special agent in charge of the investigations division of Immigration and customs enforcement in San Diego.
In addition to the extensive system of rails and the Elevator, the tunnel is equipped with ventilation system, high voltage power cables and complex drainage system.

In USA it authorities found about a half mile West of the border office of entry to Otay Mesa. This entrance was hidden by a small industrial building and camouflaged with sandbags.
Yet, according to the authorities, no arrests or drug seizures were not conducted.
But the Deputy border patrol agent in San Diego , Aaron Heitke said:
«I am confident that our work and dedication to uphold the law will lead to future arrests.»
