The cat passed a week with an arrow in the head, survived and is recovering after surgery

This cat got a new life and name after veterinarians removed an arrowthat someone shot in the head by the animal.

Cupid, as it is now called cat, is recovering after surgery at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (Virginia).

«We believe the arrow may have been in his head for a whole week,» said CNN the representative of the League of protection of animals Chelsea Jones.

Rescuers brought Cupid to a local veterinary clinic on 14 February after a woman in the County of hardy (West Virginia) found a cat on the porch. In West Virginia the veterinarians gave the cat a painkiller, but was unable to perform the operation. They got a team of Arlington for assistance.

The vets center has taken Cupid’s last Saturday and took him to the emergency room for animals. On Sunday he underwent surgery, and it was then that he got his name.

«We call him Cupid because he was found on Valentine’s Day, and also because he was incredibly affectionate — despite the pain and discomfort,» said Chelsea Jones.

Surprisingly, veterinarians have found that the arrow missed the artery but caused a severe infection.

The operation took about two hours. And, despite the pain, Cupid stays in a great mood. But it still faces long road to recovery.

«But he’s a fighter and doing great — said at the Animal Welfare League. — He has a great appetite, and he loves people.»

The total bill for treatment of the cat will be about $6500. Animal welfare League accepts donations can be made through the link.
