The Sheriff’s office Clackamas County called about 12:12 hours, saying that the climber from Portland mountain rescue center (Portland Mountain Rescue) found a «fallen man» on mount hood at an altitude of about 9,400 ft. The mountain is 11 240 feet.

«Unfortunately, the climber has died from his injuries. Rescuers were able to safely take the body of the deceased», — said the representative of the Sheriff’s office, Sergeant Marcus Mendoza.

It is known that the climber was found in ski boots. It is unclear how long he was in the area. The investigation is ongoing.

The coordinators of the search and rescue Clackamas County spend an average of 96 rescue missions a year.

Just last week two people died while skiing on the slopes in Heather Canyon on mount hood.
