Thieves broke into the Museum of aviation and cosmonautics named after Neil Armstrong in the night from Friday to Saturday and stole a gold copy of the lunar module that landed on the moon in 1969, the police say Wapakoneta Ohio.

Police confirmed in a press release that there are only three such copies, one for each astronaut.

They were created by the house of Cartier, and presented to Neil Armstrong and his two fellow astronauts buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins in Paris shortly after their historic space mission. Rarity size is about 5 inches tall and approximately 4.5 inches wide made of solid gold.

In the police Department said that the cost of this small copies can not be determined.

Currently, the Wapakoneta police are investigating the theft in conjunction with the Bureau of criminal investigation of the state of Ohio and the FBI.

Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta on 5 August 1930. The city opened a Museum dedicated to him in exactly three years after his legendary walk on the moon.
