Due to the chemical spill at the port of long beach, were injured 12 people

Sunday morning in the port of long beach have leaked chemicals, causing 12 people were injured. The incident took place around 9:30. Flammable liquid substance of unknown composition was leaked from a shipping container with a capacity of 6 gallons.

Among the victims of the incident were 11 crew members and 1 firefighter. Two victims were hospitalized with minor injuries, and the rest received medical treatment on the spot.

As reported in the fire Department long beach, the container with dangerous cargo removed from the vessel. Currently, the Agency is investigating the cause of the leak.

To prevent the pollution of coastal waters in the spill area have installed a containment boom barrier with perimeter 1000 feet.

The port of long beach is located in the Northern part of the Bay of San Pedro, near the port of Los Angeles. It imports mainly petroleum products.
