Shooting in Chicago: one killed, six wounded

In Chicago, on Tuesday evening, two unknown persons opened fire on a group of people standing on the sidewalk. One person was killed and six others were wounded, according to police.

The shooting occurred in the area of Bronzeville, about two blocks from the police station. One of the injured during a firefight already had dealings with the police, and in 2011 he was shot, said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

«Detectives find out, whether this person is the aim of the shooters, or was it a verbal altercation that escalated into the senseless bloodshed,» said Guglielmi.

Who died in a shootout name was Alfred Mitchell, he was a 28-year-old Chicago native. The guy died from his injuries at the hospital Northwestern Memorial.

Six survivors, including five women got gunshot wounds of the lower extremities. The age of the victims varies from 21 to 46 years.

While there were no arrests. Police stepped up patrols of the streets. Detectives are still investigating and looking for the footage of the incident, the website of ABC News.
