California has banned the sale of animals from «puppy factories»

California this week took a huge step forward for animal protection, becoming the first state where the pet stores are forbidden to sell puppies, kittens and rabbits from large-scale commercial breeders, whose animals often suffer terrible unsanitary conditions.

Governor Jerry brown on Friday signed a law requiring pet stores worked with shelters for animals or rescue personnel, if they want to sell dogs, cats or rabbits. The new law does not prohibit private breeders to sell animals directly to customers.

California has banned the sale of animals from «puppy factories»

In 36 cities, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, already have similar bans on mass activity for the breeding of Pets. Supporters of the law believe that this measure provides a better treatment of animals, as people will no longer be able to legally cash in on living beings, not paying attention to anything, except for earnings.

When people buy puppies and kittens from pet stores, they actually condemn their parents to further inhuman treatment for «puppy factories«. By its very nature, the industry of mass breeding of animals creates an infinite loop of excess Pets on the shelves, cruel treatment in pet shops and deception of consumers, leading to unnecessary euthanasia and overcrowded shelters. If the pet will cooperate with the shelters, it will help to reduce the huge number of stray animals in such establishments.

The adoption of such a progressive law in California would create a precedentwhich will be followed by other States.
