The city Council of new York in the near future will consider two bills aimed at improving pedestrian safety on the roads.
In one of the documents called for, addressed to the Department of transportation to study the most dangerous intersections in the city.
The second document asked to decide which of the most dangerous intersections of the city would be rational to establish a system of regulation of the «Barnes Dance»provided by the traffic lights.
«Barnes Dance» or «pedestrian action» is a rule providing for full four-sided stopping traffic at the intersection. Within 25 seconds, the pedestrians are able to cross all roads of the intersection and move in all directions.
Lawmakers argue that the implemented system has already had success at some intersections throughout the city.
«In those few areas in which we have implemented the rule of «Barnes Dance» the number of accidents continues to decline,» said a member of the Board of Ydanis Rodriguez.
