The legislators of the state of new York on Monday passed a law aimed at preventing violent crimes committed by gangs. The results of the vote showed 48 votes against 13 do not agree with the bill.
The document introduced the responsibility for seven new criminal offences (in relation to the Commission in the composition of the gangs) and increased the penalty for the creation of criminal groups and recruitment of new gang members. The law also provides for a new program to prevent gangsterism in schools.
For the first time in the criminal law of new York given the definition of a street gang. It is two or more persons, United under a common name, emblem, clothing, symbols, tattoos or other markings.
The reason for the adoption of the new law was dramatically increasing the number of violent crimes committed by gang members of MS-13 in long island. Only last week was arrested 3 alleged member group, accused of attempted murder with the use of a machete. All in all, the state police suspects the gang MS-13 involved in committing 11 murders over the last six months.
